Using Kodak 16mm Vision 3 to capture Alexis and Gabriel’s day was nothing short of ordinary. Using fully film to capture a moment in time, like a wedding, requires thoughtful intention, artistic noticing, and the ability to know your camera like the back of your hand.
Setting the scene at Hotel Atitlan, with the volcano’s towering above, and expanse of water around enters you into an atmosphere where love is combined with the overwhelming beauty of the scenery. We chose to keep the film in order of the weekend, in hopes of highlighting the tight knit family bonds, with everyone enjoying the festivities.
All sounds incorporated into the film were organically captured. The waves crashing the way they did the day before “I do”, the true birds of the land chirping along as Gabe unfolded how they met, to Alexis happily quaking “my heart is racing” moments before she saw her husband. Ways we want to forever capture not just the sights, but the sounds that were spoken, chirped, sang, declared, and whispered on their day.
